A decision is expected by about May 2014 about whether or not the Council will go ahead and build a new indoor aquatic center. The council has adopted in principle a proposed project schedule that includes appointing a consultant next month to conduct a feasibility study into the options for a new development. A decision would need to be made by May in order for constructions to start in 2015 and be completed in time for the expected closure of the current pool at the end of 2016. The process of design, approval and contracts is expected to take around 12 months and another 12 months for construction of the facility.
